She demanded excellence from her daughter and everyone she loved, not because she sought perfection, but because she believed we all have a purpose—and it deserves our very best.
From helping women find stable housing to encouraging countless others to pursue their dreams, Coleen gave her heart to service and empowerment. Her legacy lives on through this scholarship, created to support women who rise boldly in pursuit of education, aviation, and impact.
About the Scholarship
The Coleen P. Davis Legacy Scholarship supports women enrolled in York College’s Bachelor’s or Master’s in Aviation programs who exemplify academic excellence, integrity, and perseverance.
Eligibility Criteria
• Must be enrolled at York College in one of the following:
• B.A. in Aviation
• Second-degree program in Aviation
• M.S. in Aviation
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Must submit a 1,000-word essay, two letters of recommendation, and official transcripts
•Demonstrated commitment to leadership, community, or mentorship
Recipients may apply funds directly toward tuition, fees, or academic expenses. If tuition is already covered, scholarship funds will be reimbursed to the student for approved educational costs (e.g., flight hours, books, testing fees).

Applications open Winter 2025.
Interested students must submit the following materials for consideration:
• A 1,000-word personal essay titled “What Courage and Education Mean to Me.”
• Two letters of recommendation — one from a faculty member and one from a mentor or supervisor.
• Official transcripts from York College verifying enrollment in the Aviation B.A. or M.S. program and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Only complete applications will be reviewed. Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership, and alignment with the spirit of the scholarship: courage, excellence, and service.
